Meet SMEA founder
Angela Vithoulkas
Angela founded the SME Association of Australia in 2011, intending to help businesses grow their sales, find new ways to save costs, and network with other members.
“…I was ‘born’ into the hospitality business, catching my first shoplifter at the age of three.
My small business experience spans thirty years, having bought and sold dozens of businesses and employed hundreds of people; I am the founder of Eagle Waves Radio, Australia’s first small business podcasting platform; I am a twice elected City of Sydney Councillor and Founder of The Small Business Political Party. I wear a lot of hats, like most small business owners.
My business and political worlds collided with the disastrous CBD Light Rail project in 2015. Since then, I discovered an endless list of Government decisions that ignore small businesses. There is no consideration given to small business owners when these decisions are made, and their impacts can be devastating.”

ALONG THE WAY, ANGELA HAS ALSO:
- Been recognized with numerous awards, including City of Sydney Business of the Year, City of Sydney Café of the Year, NSW Entrepreneur of the Year, and 2007 Telstra Women's Business Owner of the Year.
- Been named one of nine Most Influential Female Entrepreneurs by the Sydney Morning Herald in 2017.
- Built a community of thousands of followers on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media channels!
